Is this EE supposed to be this big?

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

I had to take up an elephant ear today so I could move it. I started digging and digging and finally got it up after I had cut right through it. I probably cut off a third of it. I just couldn't believe it is so big after just one year. It looks like a space pod, but I probablly just don't know Elephant Ears.

You may not be able to tell how big, but it is 2 ft across.

Looks about right to me, I know I had one heck of a time last fall getting one out of a pot...

Ok, so it isn't an elelphnt ear on steroids. I was afraid I'd killed it when the shovel went through it. But it has new stuff c oming up, so maybe not. How big will the bulbs get?

They will vary in size, I gave alot of them away. It's one of my favorite plants

I like them too, but when they grew so big, they just weren't right where I had them , so had to dig them up and moved them. I guess I just didn't realize the bulbs got so big. Never had to move one before. I wondered how big it would get.!! That had j ust been in the ground since last year!!

Oh well, if it is an alien, it's in the dirt now.!!!

This is true, I didn't know they multiplied, but I noticed some little babies where I knew I only planted one. Had no idea they put out runners.

See, I know nothing, so I left them alone and they grew to be 8 ft high, maybe I'm a curse!!
