I Found This in My Flower Bed

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't have a clue what it is! I've not grown anything in this bed (or anyplace in my yard) that looks like this. Any ideas?

Looks like Coreopsis grandiflora.

At my place out here in the sticks beyond the paved roads we call that a misplaced wild thing. Let one of these grow and next year you may/will have many more. Now how would I know about making many more? I have always had too many to count. My opinions are not always based on the facts. It is a weed in Fannin county....

Coreopsis for sure, a very desirable wildflower. Could be this one.

It is a wild flower, but a weed in my rose garden. Beautiful in a pasture like setting. I have many of this one on my 20 acres along with many more. But they are very invasive in my landscaped areas. I let the wild flowers grow where ever they wanted one year now I have many more than I like in garden area. I think they would be a pest in the city home landscapes. No more smartalec comments by me about weeds from this newbie. I should collect wild flower seeds. Somebody may want them.

A stunning plant in the garden for sure - self sows and adds a great punch to a lot of areas. Some of my best city garden plants came here via the birds or mother nature and they are among my favorites. They need less water and that is great too!

It is a coreopsis!! I had one planted a few feet away that was a casualty of the flood last year, but it's foliage didn't look like this at all, so it'll be exciting to see which kind I now have! LOL

This is what I had the past 2 years.

Just goes to show ya that what may be a weed for some people in some areas can actually be a sought-after plant somewhere else.

Self-sowers are sort of nature's freebies !
