Is this a Birchen Cochin??

Conroe, TX

We ordered some Birchen Cochins and there is one that is feathering a bit different. One other one has a couple of the brownish looking feathers but this one has a lot. The pic shows the one with the brownish feathers and then one of the others that is feathering more like what I woud expect from a birchen, black with the white at the neck.

They are cuties! I always thought Birchen meant they looked like a birch tree white and black around the neck (atleast some birchen colorings in some breeds are like that) Heres a link to a some cochins, I have no idea when they will get all the color or anything like that maybe it will help you though http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/Cochins/BRKCochinBty.html

there are some chicks on that page LoraK that sort of resemble smedgekles' chick. Especially towards the bottom of the page with the chick pictures.

I know I posted on here yesterday but I don't see my post. Guess there was a computer glitch. Anyway below is basically what I posted, er ah tried to post.

I have no idea yet what this one is. There is one other chick with a couple of brown feathers, but this one has a lot. I'm wondering if it may be gold laced or partridge. It is just so much different than all the others. Most are getting the white feathers at the neck and are all black otherwise. One has some white on its underside and this one has the brown and only a couple of the white feathers at the neck. I guess I won't know for sure till it grows more. Maybe its mixed between a Birchin and something else or its just trrying on feather colors before it gets the ones it will keep, must be a female LOL

Partridge cochins can also look like this at that age. Definitely doesn't look birchen...

I didn't think it looked too Birchin and was thinking they may have grabbed the wrong one. We got a total of 5 of them. I was thinking possibly Partridge. Cutie whatever it is.
