Brug I.D.

Gray, LA

I inherited this beautiful lady when we purchased our house. She grows up past the overhang and now has these beautiful blooms. Please help me to I.D. her!

Enjoy her for what she is — a beautiful pink unknow Brug. There are so many look alikes that it's impossible to be positive about her ID. To give her a name would just add to the confusion of having so many unknowns masquerading as named cultivars.

Beautiful pictures HoumaGirl!
Betty is right though, there are just too many that look exactly like these so it is just impossible to identify. You might label your tag though: pink suaveolens x unknown.

You are so lucky that you inherited and she can live outside your doorsteps. I have to bring mine indoors in the winter otherwise they die! Whatever her name is, she is gorgeous! Clemen

Thank you for your replies! I was fortunate to have bought a house whose previous owner loved flowers as much as I do. She planted lots of fragrant species and bulbs. I am just weeding and trying not to disturb too much until I can see just what all we have here!
We did prune Ms. Brug back some...I'd hate to have to bring her inside! She is huge! She did have a bit of frost damage on the end of her limbs, yet she seems none the worse for it! Maybe I should cover her next winter on the really cold nights!?

Hi HoumaGirl,

I moved to Houma a little over a year ago. I was just checking the brug forum and came across this thread. I had some damage on my noid when we went below 30s but it is growing with a vengence now.

Glad to see a neighbor on the site.
