Any roundups or plant trades in Atlanta area this year?

Loganville, GA

Hi. I am new to Georgia and recently subscribed to Dave's Garden. I have been reading about the roundups and plant trades, and would love to attend one. Will there be anything like this anywhere near Atlanta this year? I used to love the plant swaps we had in Charleston, and would love to be involved in one again.

Hey Cathy! I grew up in N. Charleston! My father stil has a place there, but I haven't visited in a while. girlgroupgirl had one planned but her yard is wrecked by the storm a few weeks ago. Doesn't sound like it's going to happen this year. Here is a link, you can keep your eyes out for changes.

BTW, I added you to my 'friend' list so if I see anything I will let you know.

Yeah, sorry. You would have been very welcome to my trade. I try to do one spring and fall. I don't know about fall either because I don't know when we'll be able to get working on the landscaping here. Hopefully all summer for fall and winter planting!
I LOVE hosting plant trades and meeting everyone and hanging out with "local" gardeners. We get gardeners here from Alabama and Tennessee too!

What is required to go about hosting a trade?

I would be interested in hosting one and I have plenty of room.

FYI, the gardenweb trade is still on but was relocated to the Marietta area.

Plenty of room is about the only requirement!
Everyone runs their trade a little different. We do a pre-planned swap which is arranged through various garden websites. These are just brought all boxed or bagged up and swapped quickly. Then at my house we have a general trade in which everyone brings extra plants and puts them in designated areas (annual, perennial, sun/shade etc) and then when we call "SWAP" they go take stuff. There is always items left over and newbies can then have a 'go' at it. At my place we have incorporated a brunch/lunch/breakfast for anyone who comes early/leaves late because of distance travelling and the need to hang out with garden friends.
Sometimes we have a draw, sometimes we have a tour. Depends on what the folks wanna do. Mostly we just have an obscene amount of plants and fun.
Oh, and the last tradition is that Danita *ALWAYS* brings muffins ;)
