Is it to early for figs???

I overwintered my brown turkey fig in a spare room now it has tiny figs forming.
Do I leave them? Do I put it outside? I was planning to put it in the ground this year..just not so soon.
Confused Kim : )

Hi Kim!!! You have to wait until the nights are between 50-60 consistently. Then you need to shelter it for a week or so before introducing it to direct sun and wind. Then gradually give it more. I find the plant doesn't go into such a state of shock from the transition by doing this. I hope it works for you.

Hi Jeri!!! Thanks I was so shocked to see fruit forming..the plant is in medium light just enough water to keep it going. I will wait for warmer temps.

Mine stay in the ground here year round. We don't get much cold so it's hard for me to advise you on when. It has been in the 80's already here.

Ahhh how I long for the 80's : }
Your input was very helpful to me. I almost put it on the porch! Should be about 40* tonight brrrr the fig would say lol.

I think it would have lived because we get to 20-25 down here but I'm afraid it would have lost it's fruit and leaves like ours do in the winter.

Good luck!!!

Kim I'm in NJ just about 30 minutes from Philly. My outside figs are just starting to come alive. My inside figs or 'garage figs' I tossed outside figs about a two weeks ago but cover them at night if it falls in the 30's. They are doing okay and will be fine outside unless we get a major freeze. Mine were semi dormant in the garage so not a lot of foliage on them but they do have figs.
