This has popped up since the snow melted and is in one of my front Gardens. Since we are new to the house i'm finding all kinds of new suprises around the yard. Not exactly sure what this is though. Any ideas? Also, there is a rose bush in the backyard. Do I need to cut it down before it gets warm out? I'm very new to gardening so i'm sure i'll have lots of questions in the future. :)

What kind of plant/flower is this?
nah i dont think its a holly hock
It does look like a hollyhock. The leaves are damaged a bit from something eating them. It's growing like a vine on the ground though. Unfortunately I only have my camera phone right now so the quality of the picture is not good. I'll try to get a better pic of it.

pjadams...you were right...they are luneria! They finally grew up and have purple flowers on them. I was able to then identify from plant files.
