So, we're out training our bloodhounds today. We train all over the place because our members live all over the place and we search all over the place. Today our training was in Olympia at Priest Point Park. Now, I am VERY into my dog and trailing with him and searching and all of that. I've been working with Chile FAR longer than I've been playing with plants (duh). So today, I get my boy all harnessed up, scent him on the subject, give him his work command and off we go on the trail. He's working GREAT, I'm having to jog to keep up with him. And then it happens { = O
I see the prettiest little trillium patch on the side of the trail and I think to myself, "Those are SO CUTE! Do I have anything in my pocket with which I can dig one of those up?" All the while my poor boy is trying to hard to find the "lost" guy, trying to drag my butt down the trail, and I'm telling him "wait...wait" while I check my pockets for my little collapsible shovel. OMG! I AM SO ASHAMED! (I didn't take any plants, BTW, and we DID finish the trail and find the lost guy).
This is tragic (in a funny kinda way). . .
Outta-I'm not too positive, but Trilliums might be protected in WA.I know they are in several states.
I know...I know...it was just a momentary lapse of sanity on my part. If you recall, I was attached to my bloodhound (135 pounds of nose and determination) who was dragging my butt down a 1.5 mile, very slippery and muddy trail. It was just an expression of how absolutely entranced I am by this whole plant thing.
you addict, you!
Well your dog might have saved YOUR BUT# from getting fined! hehehe
Yeah...but DANG...they were so PRETTY! I'm sure he would have come to visit me in jail ~
Yes, they are awesome, aren't they? With tissue culture, you can get some from a nursery and skip the entire jail sentence! If it makes you feel any better, they would not have survived a transplant at this time, anyway. Trillium have small bulbs that are VERY deep. I dug some out of my neighbor's yard a couple of years ago (since his yard used to be covered with them. key word: used to be) and was surprised at how deep the corms were.
You are coming right along as a plantaholic! Keep up the good work!
And Pix is right, I have a few that come up, and I have tried to find them and dig them up, not going to happend. its just like the wild Bleeding heart, which I can never remember its name and I have a ton, would like to move them where I want. LOL never going to happen.
But it sounds like Chili had YOUR control. ^_^
ROFLMAO! I can definitely relate! I have a cemetary next door to my work with gorgeous gardens.... I take my daily lunch walks there. ... and I find myself thinking, I can take a cutting from this magnolia tree...or maybe steal the seed pods before the squirells get them....oh and those daffs and tulips... well, they wont miss just a few bulbs?! etc, etc... :o)
I'm not a grave robber... I'm a seed/root/bulb robber :o) lol!

Hello, my name is..............................
Sheri, you are definately addicted!!!! I love the image of poor Chili 'come onnnnnnn....' if it had been my terrier, he would have come over had a look, peed, and said 'stamp approved, now lets get going'!
Laurie ~ you are SO right. Maybe I could start a 12-step thread to keep me from spending all my money and help me better focus on other things as well as plants. It was a pretty pathetic wake up call for me. I guess I'm going to have to learn how to divide my time a little better. Fortunately for me, Chile is very persistent and will not let me digress too far from the task at hand.
Chili will have to learn to share - just as my patients do - back to work to pay for addictions!
You know THERE is a thread for that! LOL
