I took a picture of my Sunlit Sugar Plum. She is not blooming now, but she was. Better to see the reason I love her, ha. She has so much white and pink and seems SOOO HAPPY! She is soft like a stuffed animal.
Some variegated girls, more white
Those are all gorgeous! Sunlit Sugar Plum may well be the most beautiful AV I've ever seen. Who needs blooms with all that beauty? ^_^
OOOH I love Rob's Scrumptious :)
I have been admiring it on his site for a while. The blooms are soooo pretty :)
What lovely plants Sally :) The foliage is beautiful enough.......who cares if they bloom? *lol*
Great pictures of them too :)
Kim
That's right. Blooms don't matter on lots of my plants. I usually buy for leaves, not always of course.
I love the violets that feel and look soft and cuddly. I also love lamb's ears and fun flowers outside. Fluffy and full.
I LOVE Sunlit Sugar Plum .... That foliage is so gorgeous! And, I agree, if you can have a plant with foliage that pretty, who needs blooms! I love plants with variegated foliage and that AV is the prettiest one I've ever seen.
Jolly Frost and Rob's Scrumptious are great too, but I adore that Sunlit Sugar Plum!
Oh, Sally, I hope my leaves give me babies galore........and then I can share...........
Yes, I hope my Sunlit leaves make babies. I need back up in case something happens to her!
I love sharing more than anything in the world and can't wait until I have enough to make everyone boxes!!!!!
Sally......should a leaf ever just happen to "fall off" scrumptious or anything......would you keep me in mind? I'm sure that I will have SOMETHING on this stand you will like *lol*
Kim
OK, KIm! I will do that for ya. It is small, you know that right? Really pretty.
Gail!!!!! My hubby was looking at my violets today and he was talking about the Mindi Rose he bought, then he said, "What's that one behind it" UM.... ANOTHER MINDI ROSE! I will be able to bring you a leaf or two to the meeting! What a nut I am. I had a list, but then we bought a bunch. I need to work on that list!

I love the small ones :)
I have LOTS of leaves down and will have babies to share in the upcoming months :)
I want to separate them right now but Pier said NO.......NOT YET *lol*
Kim
Sally, I have many times bought the same plant twice!!!!!!!!! I bought two of the same plant at our own sale.........one from Jo and the same one that Marjorie grew (LOL).
If you want to sell your other 'Mindi Rose', bring the smallest one to the meeting and I will buy it for what you paid for it..................if you don't want to get rid of it, I would love a leaf. I love all of Boone's hybridizing..........
I sold two of Mindi Brooke at the sale.......now I wish I still had her. This pic is from First Class.
I guess I am not the only one, ha. Too bad you sold all your Mindi Brooke. OK, I will either bring the plant or leaves. I am always afraid a plant will die. I almost want two of each, well, not really. NOT enough room!
Guess I need a lesson about mailing leaves now. I will give Kim one soon. How to cut it off, long I guess. Let me know how to do it ya'll. In a box, not padded envelope? I will stay tuned.
Kim, I told myself I would stay with the mini's and episcia to have more and use less space. BUT, the Standards keep PULLING ME BACK IN.... :)
Sally, I was really only kidding about the scrumptious leaf *lol* It's kind of foolish to send only 1 leaf. Maybe in a couple of months we will have enough to share a trade together or something.
The leaves I have received in the mail were in ziplock bags (the leaves dry, not wet) and then put in a box but it was multiple leaves. I would think a single leaf would travel fine in a small bubble envelope. I have sent strep leaves in bubble envelopes with no problems. But honestly, there is no rush whatsoever. I just meant if you were grooming one day and one "fell off" not to throw it out :)
I mainly try to stay with the minis and semis but there are a few standards which totally grab me too so I have a couple of those leaves down now too *lol*
They are really alot of fun :)
Kim
Sally, you have a dmail about our meeting.............it is a question and answer meeting for you, Jackie and me........
got it.
I have only sent leaves through the mail twice and was told to put them dry into zip lok bags (I used the snack size and put two leaves per bag). Then the bag went into a padded envelope and shipped priority ... worked great. That's how I received leaves from someone too.
I send leaves in padded envelopes all the time, but I do have a piece of paper I now put on every box and envelope going out. I copied someone who sent me something and it works with the postal system.
In big red giant letters I print out on a 1/3 sheet of paper that says:
PLANTS ARE PERISHABLE
NO HEAT OR COLD
DO NOT CRUSH
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
They must read it because I haven't sent a box yet that was crushed . I think they appreciate the THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
And yet, I have heard others say if they mark Live Plants/Perishable on the box, they receive the box sometimes all crushed and man handled. I guess it just depends on the mood of the postal employees handling all those packages, huh? Or, maybe they see the Thank You and think more of it and decide to be nice! I know I have been on both ends ... some marked live plants and perishable and crushed quite a bit and others in perfect, pristine condition!
hmmmm which friend would that be? (ex postal worker *lol*)
Thanks!
Beautiful Plants Sally! Such gorgeous foliage them all! Oh that Sunlit Sugar Plum is a real Show Stopper for sure..WOW!!! : )
let's all hope that the two leaves Sally gave me when she bought the plant produce lots and lots of babies. The leaves are giant..........I had to cut them in half to stick them.
I haven't a doubt in my mind you will have baby sunlit sugar plum babies in no time Gail : )
We can all have a baby sunlit sugar plum as she is so pretty!
She sure is. I love to touch her and coo over her! SO SOFT.
