Wow! I have a pink one--Well I am told its a pink EPI, I started it from a cutting and its growing over my friends house for the winter..I hope I can get a bloom on her. Your plants is beautiful! Congrats!! I have a bloom on one of my NBC and the others are growing so tall and crazy they are hitting the ceiling! Our nick name for these are Alien Plants!! LOL
Beautiful. I have to get some well established Epis soon.
I used to have a few, and got them to bloom. But all I have now are Zygos, and a rhipsalis cutting which I have in the ICU right now. I got it from a DG buddy who is not into succulents or epis and I got them after they had sat around at his house for awhile.
Well you are right Katrum, they are alien plants, when I saw the first one at my friend's house, I said "what the ???? is that, it looks amazing, weird, weird, and weird, beautiful (in my eyes some people think they are ugly ), exotic....etc. To make a long story short, she gave me cuttings that day. Her Night blooming cereus/cactus is about 5 feet tall, unbeliavable! Not mine of course, but growing beautifully.
Analogdog, zygos are from the same family I think or I treat them the same, I have them take them outdoors in the summer, no hot baking sun, but filtered light and they bloom! Love them all. I do nto have a rhipsalis, what do they look like?CLemen
Rhipsalis are quite a varied bunch, from Epi like strap leaves to cylindrical or other shaped stems. They are epiphytic and live in basically the same environment.
I just ran a quick plant files query and found 111 plants matching the genus, check it out: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=Rhipsalis&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
Thanks AnalogDog, the Rhipsalis are very interesting also! Clemen
