Is that a little foxhound mix Rose? He's so serious LOL
MollyD
She is a 'Decker' Rat Terrier.
http://www.deckerterrier.com/gpage2.html
So she'll get any rats that bother your chickens? What did you name her?
MollyD
She will go rabbit and squirrel hunting with my hubby and I'm hoping she will hunt for varmints and moles around the farm.
"GO gettum girl"!!
No name yet.
We pick her up next week.
My uncle has a Jack Russel Terrier and he has brought home woodchucks bigger than himself! Sounds like your girl will be just as tough(if not more!) I think your garden will be safe from rabbits and woodchucks this year! lol!
I hope so!
Now if we can keep her from eating the chickens I will be REALLY happy. ;o)

Hey CR, Happy belated birthday.
Let me know how you like you little garden seat thingie... looks fab.
The pup is adorable, there is noting in this world like the smell of puppy breath *S*.
((hugs))
Dove
PS
Oh, on name suggestions; I like Figment, Fig for short....
Not a very girlie name, but it is different.
*S*
Well, I think she looks just like a Sadie. ^_^
We have a Heidi but she doesn't care much for the name and prefers it when we call her Dodie or Doodlebug.
MollyD
Well, we have a Penny, but she answers to other names that I can't put on here. She had an incontinence problem when she was a puppy, so we nicknamed her p----head. She still answers better than her name.
My husband calls our 2 Chihuahuha's "Dumb & Dumber"
i thought rex worked with both oh well my mistake how bout cindy then
Lucky friends of mine named one of their sons Rex after a man friend.
MollyD
I usually have to be around a pup for awhile and get a feel for their personality before I name them. Will let you know.
More suggestions welcome. :)
The reason Penny got her name was a friends beagle got on a snowshoe hare's trail and got lost. They asked if they could use our phone # for contact info if someone saw the dog. That happened, and the friend was able to recover it. He promised us a pup when he bred his dog and because the sire's name was Copper, I said I wanted a female and I would call her Penny.
But yes, I usually have to be around an animal to see it's personality before I name it.
granny, love the nickname! Although I don't know if I would want to be yelling it to call her in! lol! :-)

Here's one for your birthday puppy - a poem written by Billy Collins
Dharma
The way the dog trots out the front door
every morning
without a hat or an umbrella,
without any money
or the keys to her doghouse
never fails to fill the saucer of my heart
with milky admiration.
Who provides a finer example
of a life without encumbrance—
Thoreau in his curtainless hut
with a single plate, a single spoon?
Gandhi with his staff and his holy diapers?
Off she goes into the material world
with nothing but her brown coat
and her modest blue collar,
following only her wet nose,
the twin portals of her steady breathing,
followed only by the plume of her tail.
If only she did not shove the cat aside
every morning
and eat all his food
what a model of self-containment she
would be,
what a paragon of earthly detachment.
If only she were not so eager
for a rub behind the ears,
so acrobatic in her welcomes,
if only I were not her god.

Happy Birthday, Cottage_Rose! Sorry if i'm a bit late.
Love your tractor thingy, and the pup is adorable.
My childhood dog's name was Copper. That was one
smart dog. He was a military police flunk out, and my Dad
brought him home. Turned out to be the BEST dog ever.
Their loss, our gain! LOL
Dovey what a sweet poem. Thank you!
Truest...thanks for taking the time to wish me a Happy B-Day. :o)
Hope the pup turns out to be a good one.
The Deckers are suppose to be VERY intelligent.
I loved the poem too, Dovey. That is so sweet.
Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Cottage_Rose.
Also hope you have the best pup ever!
Thanks! ;o)
