climbing roses or fast growing vine

I'm a "newbie" here and I am dying to learn more. Daves is sure the right place to be.I'd like some suggestions for a vine, or perhaps a climbing rose the I could plant around a metal gazebo, and will grow tall enough to make a "roof". It came with a canvas top,but that was lost twice now,due to the wind.I live in zone 9a. in Santa Clarita CA.The gazebo is 12ft x 12ft. and is in full sun all day,in my south-west facing backyard. I need some shade. We also have a pool, so I don't want something that will litter the pool too much.Hopefully this week I'll be able to post some pictures as I know they help. Thanks for your help.
