Everything I read says it's great for pots and hanging baskets, but being as stubborn as I am, I'd like to try some in the ground.
Bad idea? (The variety is blutopia.)

Anyone plant bacopa directly in beds?
A neighbor had it planted a few to hang over a wall in a somewhat shady area. Two of the three plants looked nice most of the summer. I don't know about your zone.
I tried it one summer as a green mulch in pots. Unsuccessfully I might add. Wondered if it didn't favor our heat. Maybe it simply didn't favor my care... I'd say try it in ground and then, you can answer our questions ~ LOL

Ok, I guess I'll do that!
