Raising a New Kind of ‘Eater’
CSA’s magic grows some food—and lots of community
CSA Bonds Consumers with Farmers
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), in which members pay farmers a lump sum for a share of the harvest, is becoming ever more popular, says a feature from Michigan Land Use Institute. The number of CSA farms in Michigan and across the country has grown by leaps and bounds recently, and many farms have waiting lists because the number of willing customers exceeds the available harvest. The feature points out that CSAs not only provide food for their members, but connect them to the process of food production, creating a constituency concerned about farmers, their livelihoods, and land use issues.
