Does anyone have one of these? How hardy are they?

I've never seen or heard of one of these before.

Mark might see this and be along to give you info on it..he's the one selling it on e-bay. I don't imagine it's hardy to 8b..most passis are tropical..there are a few that we can enjoy that will come back for us in z8.

The P. membranacea is a cool weather passiflora better grown in the California-Pacific area.
It will be a struggle keeping it alive where heat and humidity factor in.
Unless you're prepared to create an artificial environment for it, it won't do well.

Carolyn, good call. Here I am. Yes, that is my plant. Membranacea is a cooler weather grower. While it may tolerate some heat, it would need to be planted in the ground to do so. It sure won't take extreme heat though.

Thanks for the posts. It's definitely too hot here for this vine!

I think I need one of these. How cold will it take?Did you grow this one from cuttings or seed?

Jim, it won't take any snow, I assume you get snow there in Canada. You'd have to grow it in a nice large pot and bring it in for the winter.

Hi Mark
The snow wouldn't be a problem , I have a 32 by 20 heated greenhouse in the backyard that runs at about 80F all winter and has about 2000 assorted passionflowers in it. The bigger problem up here for some of the tropical ones is low light levels throughout the winter, those i keep in a room downstairs under HID lights. So getting it to survive isn't a problem. Any ideas where I can find one that can be shipped across the border?

Jim, I'm not sure about that. Write me at zostropz@aol.com

hey Mark
I sent you an email a while back, did you get it? It came from my work address nicholsonj@agr.gc.ca and sometimes these government filters are too picky about what they let through.

Jim, no, I never got it.
