Was it you? >:(
Who would do such a a dastardly deed? Rabbits?
Also, looks like a mole took out some impatiens I planted. *shakes fist*
Also, I have yet to see a peek from 16 hostas I planted from bare root Wal-Mart stock last spring. Is this normal?
Somebody munched all the tops of my daylilies off!
Wait - ok, took a second look and the hostas are a-peeking finally.
But the mystery of the eaten daylilies remains...
Deer would be my best guess. They will eat anything that costs over 50 cents!!
I've never seen a deer here, ever. Course, they could be in disguise...*looks around suspiciously*
Rabbits have been trying to eat my DL's, Larissa. You got rabbits?
Put some Bloodmeal in your plants when you plant them. I swear by that stuff. It keeps our rabbits out of my Pansies which they normally DEVOUR..
Also, last summer I had 2 flats of Verbena on my front porch. I went inside and 30 minutes later came back out to plant One flat looked kinda strange to me so I looked closer. A rabbit had eaten every single bloom off the entire flat!! I was so mad so I got out my bloodmeal and poured it on the second flat.
That flat sat outside for a week before I planted it and not one single bloom was harmed by that rabbit. :-)
I saw this post and thought I'd pop in - I inspected mine yesterday and found they're showing the same signs of being "grazed". My guess is it's rascally rabbits (deer *could* get to them, but they'd have to stand on the driveway, and they aren't usually that bold.)
Angel, where do you get bloodmeal? Cost? Do you know about the swaps?
I have heard about blood meal or a diluted milk spray repelling rabbits. Supposedly they don't like the taste or smell of anything high in protein. But that never made sense to me, isn't alfalfa (rabbit food) a high protein grass?
Bronc, feedstore or hardware store has cheepest bloodmeal.
Thanks, Cocoa!
Has to be rabbits. We have them everywhere. So cute until now....
I have rabbits everywhere too, they are so cute. (knock on wood) They stay out of my flower beds. I use bonemeal, bloodmeal and fish emulsion. There is plenty of space for them to eat elsewhere...oh, and four dogs, two cats. It's hard for me to say which of the above is working to keep them out. I only hope it stays that way.
Rabbits come eat mine each year... come right in the chicken wire and everything to feast. The only thing that slows them down is that I started to plant radish among my prized plants,,, they eat them first so a few radush seeds each week until the heat sets in and you will be set - they love them and I dont mind them eating them!
