Goslings pipped but not making progress

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

They pipped this morning but not making any progress.
I can hear them peeping...SO SWEEET!
How long do you wait until you help them out?
I know it can take 24 - 48 hours but it always makes me nervous
when they take so long.

If they only started this morning they aren't in trouble so right now they don't need help :-) Maybe they're mama could use a nice cup of chamomile while she waits?

Just keep an eye on them and make sure they don't get too dry to turn. That is the number one reason they die after they pip. Once [warm] air gets in the egg it starts drying rather quickly. How are they now?

They all hatched this morning and are doing fine! :)
I put a new water soaked sponge in the incubator and got the humidity up to around 85% and that made the difference.
I had so many last year that I had to help out but I think it was because the humidty was too low like you mentioned.

Well congrats, hope they all do fine. I have about 50 Button quail eggs in that should start hatching Monday, I'm really nervous cause this is my first hatch on quail eggs.

good luck and talley_wacker how do you handle 50 the most i have done is about 20

They are due to hatch in three or four sets each anywhere from 8 to 20 each. I'm not sure about the brooding process, I haven't done that part yet. I have a system I think will work. It consits of a 10 gal aquarium for the first 5-7 days, then a large tote for a week or so and then move them to a cage with a heat lamp until it can be removed, and finally move them to the flight cage. Not real sure but it seems like it should work.

still it sounds lik alota work

There is going to ba a lot of babies and even more work. I just can't stand to see those eggs go to waste when I thik of the cute little baby that could hatch from it. If I have room in the bator, which it would be hard to run out when setting button eggs, and I have the eggs to put in then I might as well set them. They grow very fast so I think it should run rather smoothly.
