We had one bunch of Crocus come up and bloom together. The rest have been coming up erratically. The other bulbs are coming up as they are supposed to.
Has anyone heared of this before. Our winter was strange it started in mid January and ended with a brief blizzard on Easter Sunday.
Croci blooming erratically
the crocuses in my yard come up in the warmest spots first, and then for instance where we still have snow, don't come up for quite a while. A cold spell can set them back again, even if they've started to come up. Its all in the soil temperatures, I think!
Were these planted recently, or has the soil washed or been disturbed making some of them deeper than others? That would account for some difference. Also, I agree with sjms--even though they are near each other, there can still be substantial soil temp and light differences, especially in Spring, that could account for different sprout/growth rates. If the leaf cover or snow was, or is, deeper over one area versus another, that, too, would do it. Last, but not least, if they aren't the same cultivar, of course they would come up at different times. Ahh....the mysteries of Mother Nature............!
One cultivar came up all together and bloomed together. The other cultivars are all confused.
