I am showing three new violets from Ken's. I already showed the Gigantor orchid, ha.
I can't wait until the bud's and flowers come out more but I usually pick plants with great leaves, so I love seeing the foliage. It was fun. Hubby went to Ken's after his golf tournament and called me to see what I might want. I had wanted more standard variegated, ruffley etc. leaves. He would ask about one and I would say yes or no, ha. I also looked them up on First Class. Ah, technology!
New plants from Ken's
Goodness Sally!! those are absolutely stunning! I really love the big full ones too..they take up alot of room but oh they look so marvelous!
Beautiful, Sally ... you really got some gorgeous AV's there! Just from seeing Gail's goodies she buys - makes me wish I lived closer to Texas ( well the Corpus area anyway!) Seems like y'all have some really nice nurseries there!
Oh my goodness, I might be bugging you for a trade of leaves. That Mindi Rose is one I have wanted for a long time. Come to the meeting with a leaf of Mindi Rose and I will give you something you really want from my house, Sally.
Stunning!!
Thanks for sharing your new beauties. :-)
Sally, shall we tell them that Ken's is 31/2 hours from here but i don't mind traveling there at all.
I love all your pics but really love the Mindi Rose!
Ha, yes, it is not so close at all is it? Worth the trip though. I have been looking at Mindi Rose, she has no extra leaves, do I wait for one or cut one off and have it uneven? I am not sure if I should wait a bit.
We are going there again soon. Do you want me to see if there is another Mindi Rose?
No hurry.........I am hoping that at my house when the April meeting rolls around, that the ladies will show me how to remove leaves to make these beautiful symmetrical plants that they grow.
I am going to make a trip, Sally, before long so don't give it another thought..........
Well, you will get a leaf for sure. How is your Sunlit Sugar Plum leaf growing? I rooted another one and it is rooted, no babies yet. I just love that plant?
I love that plant I got from Jo. My leaf looks the same. I love my plant so much. It is doing very well. Everyone got leaves from it that day! It has so much white, it is my fav. I think.
I have lots of leaves to share at the meeting.....I just haven't learned which ones to take off. Marjorie and Glenda will know for sure. Maybe some others will know, too.
Yes. I wish I liked growing from leaves, ha. I used to do it, years ago when I grew violets. I have three rooted right now. I know when the widdle babies come up I will be happy!
Oh my ... when Sally mentioned the leaf of Sunlit Sugar Plum had so much white, I just had to look up that plant at the AVSA site.
What a beauty! http://www.avsa.org/Photographs/SunlitSugarPlumLrg.jpg#http://../Photographs/SunlitSugarPlumLrg.jpg%23
Mine is even more white that that. It is so beautiful! Soft too. I need to get a new picture now that it is growing.
This lady Jo that Sally is talking about lives only 70 miles from here and has some of the most beautiful vintage violets. I keep being tempted to make an appointment and go buy more of hers. My two favorite violets that I have show pics of.......Circus Time and another one I can't think of are my two favorite violets and I bought them from Jo at the sale.
