My tulips have just started to break through the ground. I would like to move them to another spot in the garden. Can I dig up the bulbs and the surrounding soil and move them?

Wait until after they have finished blooming and they'll do much better.
I wish I could wait. The tulip area is right where we will be pouring a foundation for an addition to our home. The cement trucks can't wait for them to bloom. I guess I should have mentioned this before. Does anyone have any experience with moving tulips prior to blooming?
If you have to move them anyway, I'd say go ahead and move them. It probably won't do them any harm. I'd give them a real good feeding of bonemeal in the fall.
