Transplanting Gladiola Bulbs

TAYLOR, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a question I hope someone here can answer. I have gladiolas growing in containers and I want to put them into the ground. They are about a foot tall at the moment. Should I wait until after they finish blooming to put them into the ground, or can I do it now if I don't disturb them too much?

I've moved them in mid-growth, and noticed they don't seem to get quite as tall afterwards. But they still bloom, and next year will be fine. In fact, they're like weeds - if you wait, they'll make a ton of little bulblets which drop all over the place, and in a few years they're in all kinds of places you didn't intend them to be, LOL!

O, that would be wonderful! Thanks for your advice. I planted these in containers last year and they did fine, but they have multiplied and I really wanted to put them in the ground this year. Thanks again, I will get them in the ground today or tomorrow.
