Last year my Redbud tree was defoliated, my sycamore was munched and I feared for my crepe myrtles. What can I do to kill these nasty caterpillars? Does Bt work? Is there a Bt spray?
Tent Caterpillars
If you can, use a long pole or a strong jet of water to break open the web around the caterpillars. The spray of water will wash many of them off the tree. Squash the ones that fall on the ground or let birds take care of them. We haven't had a problem with tent caterpillars, but have noticed that they are now in the northeast corner of the ranch. I've never seen a BT spray, but it may not help because you have to break the protective web open.
