Ooh! Ooh! (Raises hand.) That's a Palamedes Swallowtail. There's one way to really tell them apart from the other swallowtails. You see that diagonal orangish line across the underside of the wing? Only the Palamedes have those.

Mellie,,,, you get an A+ for that answer. I had looked up the other Swallowtails, but knew he wasn't those... Thank you sooo much.. Going over to label him right now.

You're welcome! There are several that look so similar, but that's one way I learned how to tell those. I get them in the backyard a lot sunning themselves on the grass. My book says they're the most commonly encountered swallowtail in Florida, and I'll believe it! They seem to love my plumbagos. Glad to see they like to hang out in GA, too!
