Time to thin these . I have a monarda purchased as a mixed colors plant that blooms with large lavender blooms and is always covered in bees and butterflies 4ft tall. I also have walker's low catmint plants to trade. I am open for trading for most things especially fragrant plants!
Monarda (lavender blooms) and Walker's low catmint for trade
it's not catnip is it, ? I thought it was called nepeta walkers low. Is it a type of catnip? didn't know if it was or not. I never though t it was. was just wondering.
it is. it is the same catmint, catnip usually see it listed as catmint though, but it is the same kind of stuff. minty smell. this one is a dwarf free bloomer, in my zone blooms until frost.
I didn't realize it was also called catnip, there are several kinds then ha? cause I have this catnip popping up everywhere, but it's not the walkers low that seems to stay put and just the clump gets bigger. I wish the walkers low germinated by seed like this other stuff I have does, I do'nt have a picture of it or maybe I could post it in the id forum, I'll have to get a pic the next time I see one of those that aren't the walkers low.
Hey, thanks for the help. appreciate it. hope you get some trades, I think the walkers low was plant of the year in 2007 it's a neat plant
it is a very nice plant and keeps on blooming. We also have wild catnip here. Its quite gigantic compared to walkers low and flowers in white.
I must have the wild too then cause this stuff gets so tall that it stays laid over all the time.
I have a patch of it in my yard that gets four feet tall and just as wide. I hate to cut it down because I tried and tried and the thing just wanted to live and just came back. So I finally said what the heck and let it go.
Sorry, not trying to butt-in here, but catmint is not the same as catnip.
Catmint is Nepeta x faassennii(among others). 'Walkers low' is a select hybrid of the catmints, that is sterile, and does not set seeds, or get very tall.

Do you have a picture of your lavender monarda?
Thanks, I appreciate that info,
yep and thanks! No I don't have any pics, but it is a tall cultivar with lovely full lavender blooms. Quite spectacular in full bloom, gets alot of comments.
I would love to trade for some of your monarda. What are you looking for in trade?
Kim
i am dmailing you..
I have Greek Oregano that I would trade. While the blooms are not fragrant, the plant has a great 'pizza smell' when crushed, and you can actually dry and use it. It is a great plant for butterflies and bees, and spreads quickly. I don't have many fragrant plants, and need to remedy that. I also have Achillea millefolium in pastel colors. It is mostly shades of pink and white. It doesn't get super tall, and is quite behaved.
I would trade for both of your plants if mine are something that you'd like.
dmailing you melody!
The catmint is gone, but I still have monarda...thanks to everyone!
If you still have the purple monarda I would really be interested. Let me know.
Kathy
