Freaky Tootsie Seedpod

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Here is one of the seedpods from tootsie. It is wierd because it is being held so horizontally. It seems to go up more as it gets bigger too lol. Anyone else had Tootsie pods like this?
I noticed she holds some of her flowers this way too....

I have never seen a pod like that, it is so funny. Have to watch mine when I start doing crosses on her this summer.

It is even bigger now and it sure looks strange, sorta like a banana. This one is
Tootsie x Berenstein. There is another pod that is smaller and hanging more straight down and that one is Tootsie x Cold Fire.. not sure if the father makes a difference or not. Tootsie has a lot of strange flowers on her sometimes.

We got a Tootsie from Brenda early last year and it had buds when she shipped it but we never got to see it bloom, they just kept falling off. We have her growing in several places in hopes that this will change.

Ken mine kept falling off too for awhile. Finally I got a flush of 5 flowers that held. 3 were very shredded like inside and had deformed anthers and stamen so couldn't be pollinated- but looked more normal on the outside of the flower. One flower was a normal double but had two stamens lol! I pollinated both of them , one fell off but the pollen took on the other stamen I think- That is the wierd banana looking seedpod! There is a groove in the top of the 'banana seedpod that had a tiny seedpod fitted in it but it fell off early on ( it was sorta like a twin pods lol)

The remaining flower was normal and made a pod too -it is smaller but more normal/vertical.

I took some photos of the flowers, It was real windy so I brought the plant inside when I took them. I will look for them and try to get them posted later..I took a photo of the inside of the deformed/shredded flowers too.

angle_tree_baby, there was probably some mechanical damage to the seedpod on the upper side which prevents that area from growing.

Bettydee that could be.

Here are a few pics of the flowers...They were more gold than it shows because I had them indoors due to high wind and my camera sucks lol.

Here is another one showing the inside of one of the deformed/shredded type blooms: I cut it open and it looks just like a shredded white inside (form wise)

Front of the same from above. Kind of cool star like pattern in the middle.

Side view of one and shows how Tootsie sometimes holds her blooms fairly horizontal and even almost straight up as in the case of the flower bud just opening behind this one- they drop down but not that much.

Angel, thanks for sharing those photos. I've been waiting until Brenda offers Tootsie for sale again. Have you had Tootsie long enough to know what her color is in hot weather? Brugs are affected by the climatic conditions more than most other plants. I've had my Creamsicle do that at the beginning of the season.

Betty, This is the first flush I've got Tootsie to hold. I've had her awhile now, but she has always dropped her buds. That's why I brought her inside this time~It gets windy here alot :(
I know what you mean about the temps and color..I will post some more this pix this summer if I get any.
