I am new at DG but wanted to add my 2 cents (has it inflated?)
We have new neighbors in our yard. Two Red Hawks (rufous sp?) have nested and we gestimate about 22 days from hatching.
I am spending too much time hawk watching and not enough time gardening LOL. Anyway, this is a new experience for us, living smack in the middle of town.
I would appreciate any comments, concerns (Is our neighbor's weinie dog safe?) or advice.

Your neighbour's dog is perfectly safe, Red-shouldered Hawk is much too small to be able to get it. They go for small prey like mice, voles, chipmunks, lizards, etc.
