Cloth diapers

Hi, I'm new to DG, but super excited to see a thriving forum on sustainable living. I am soon to be expecting (i hope) my husband and I are going to be using cloth rather than disposable diapers. Does any one have experience with these? What do I need to know before ordering the diapers online? We are committed to using environmentally sound products, but most of my peers insist it is "too hard" to do this, I don't believe 'em.
