Help with birds

i am having a problem here. birds fly into my window and so far the window is winning. i have buried a hummingbird, a wren and just today, a woodpecker. has anyone else had this problem, and what can i do about it? i hate when they do this. i'd much rather see them flying. my windows are large. any suggestions?

I have the Window Alert ones they seem to do a pretty good job.

When I lived in Hawaii, I used cheap lace curtains, hung on the outside of the windows with staples and double stick tape. It worked great!
