their foul larvae are certainly the epitome of satan crawling. last spring wasn't so bad--maybe because spring was late. I'm expecting a bad time this spring, though. I hate the way they drift down from maples and attack everything I have that's in Rosaceae. Does anyone have any info about fighting them?
winter moths
They were awful here last year. I took a ton of them off my roses and they did a bit of a job on some trees. I did not see many of the male moths this winter, although there were some this past dec during a warm spell but I am hoping the early snow cover prevented a lot of them from getting free to fly looking for a female caterpillar. Here is some info about them including some control measures at the end of article. http://www.umassgreeninfo.org/fact_sheets/defoliators/winter_moth.pdf
