Theme - Candee - Light My Fire

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

In light of the chill outside and the lack of warmth here in the east, I nominate a new theme of
"Light My Fire"
But let's wait and do this one next week as Star has begun the seashell/seashore.

Week of March 31.

Candee
Oops, now need to find an arrangement.

Oh that is too cute. Should be ready by fall for harvest if not before in your temps.

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Cool pineapple Sue. You have the best garden! I wanna move to Australia.

london England, United Kingdom

Candee, this will be another interesting theme.
Lovely pineapple Sue, you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Oops, almost posted my picture! Good thing I read the beginning thread again. Will revisit March 31. See ya in the cafe.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

NP karma, I go ahead of myself, that blonde thing LOL. Feel free to post if you have something, am sure that there will be no complaints!

Applause, applause! Great Show!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

My oh my Sue, that is outa this world clever, where did you ever find such a cute little potbellied stove to begin with? The colors look like dancing flames and who would have thought of bellowing smoke above. You have really captured the theme in this one, great imagination and technique.

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Wowie Sue! I love it. The smoke thing is awesome. The colors are amazing and very true to the theme. Gorgeous! Can't post my pic until I get home. See you a little later.

london England, United Kingdom

Sue, That is gorgeous! Love the croton leaves for fire, they work so well. It looks beautiful in the outside setting and your container is brilliant. You certianly have given us a WOW arrangement to start this theme. Thankyou.

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Mine is not as fiery as Sue's, but I hope it will at least warm you up a bit Candee. Here's my interpretation of Light my Fire. . .and it should only be done behind closed doors. LOL

I forgot the chocolate!

Oh, that is so beautiful Karma. The rose posy is lovely, it looks very serene and what a nice set up! Thankyou.
Better get my thinking cap on for this one!

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Thanks Terri, I miss being a part of this group. I'm just no good at keeping up. Got the roses for $3 at the grocery store. They were in real good condition. . .don't know why they marked it down.

london England, United Kingdom

The roses were a good find, it's great when that happens! We have been missing you too! but understand that from time to time we all have other stuff to do. Especially now at springtime when there is so much to do outside !

It was a good idea of Candee to start the themed threads. Anyone can join in anytime they like and we can add new arrangements!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

That is quite warm and soothing Lana. It exudes warmth. I will be having more to do as well as the weather clears and we open the cabin, but this is just the most fun thread and I have been part of the DG family since its inception and this is my favorite ever.
Forgot the chocolate, we don't have a piece left after the Easter weekend, if you do you better hide it rather than post. Now if there is wine in that lovely picher that will make up for the chocs.

Now here is my contribution. My mom's antique pewter candlestick, little lip at top and bottom to hold some water and Terri's idea of the pearl pins to secure the top gerbera, hot reds and orange at the base, puffs of smoke and mini lights throughout - my little find at Michaels when looking for the frog pins!

Another fabulous arrangement! Wow today has been good.
Real fire! the colours are virbant and make it so alive. Love your Mom's candlestick, great idea.
I like where you have placed the flowers with the solidago folding in between, has great movement. Really good! Thankyou Candee.

It's going to be hard to think of something different with all your arrangements being so fantastic!

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Candee, hot hot hot! I agree about the movement of the solidago. Great flow. Your whole set up with the smoky background and mini lights are great. Shows you pay a lot of attention to detail. Awesome arrangement.

Terri, think hard! But I know you won't have to, being the naturally creative person you are.

Coffs Harbour, Australia

Thankyou all for the compliments. I walked around the house and garden repeating "fire, fire" to myself and collected a huge basket of bits, before finding the pot belly and making the arrangement. I took the pics outside, because it was the last of the suns rays, and I was trying to get them to light up the leaves.
Nice one Karma? All the better because we know you got a bargain! I could eat those Strawberries right now!
Well done Candee. I haven't seen such tiny lights before and i love the candle stick holder. Does the little knob on the side, slide the candle up and down?
What is Solidago?

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Wow, I am so flattered.
Sue the Solidago is that foilage that is "smoking puffs" around the candle stick stick. The little handle does slide the candle up and down, I think in the early days it kept the flame from going out as you walked around in the dark looking for your "outhouse" LOL!

The gerbera daisies were a gift from Tim and Amy for my birthday and they adorned the table at Easter. The colors were exactly what I wanted for the fire and flame so it worked out perfect.

Lana, my OCB does tend to make me detail orientated. Steve is constantly amazed when I can't sit still because the tiniest thing out of kilter will sometimes drive me nuts until I get the object exactly where I want it. For instance, I put the arrangement on the TV table and in the process of moving it around the solidago shifted slightly to the right. I got up three times and walked over and repositioned it until it met up to my eyes' standards LOL. Now on the other hand, the dishes were sitting on the counter all night and will get washed sometime later today. The lights are operated by 2AA batteries and just cost a few dollars at RE Michaels.

Terri, put on that thinking cap, I have every confidence in your skill to WOW us.

I still think that potbelly is just the most clever thing. You probably never thought of using it in anything until now. BTW are there any strawberries left?

Candee

london England, United Kingdom

Sue, we call it 'golden rod' too. It's quite expensive to buy at the florists here about £1.50 a stem. Karma once told me it grows wild along the roads where she lives!! I doubt you ever have trouble finding foliage. Here the foliage costs just as much as flowers if not more!

Hey Candee had a Birthday... you kept that quiet!! Happy belated Birthday!
Hey everyone, How about a party for Candee at the cafe tonight? bring a bottle!!

I'm thinking I'm thinking!!!! saying FIRE FIRE!!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Actually here the golden rod is a weed, but sometimes a weed can become a flower when needed. Sure I will be making something later this season with a few good ole dandelions!

You don't have to take time from your busy lives for my birthday celebration, but it is awfully kind of you to consider that.

Stop thinking and trying so hard Terri, you are making my head hurt. It will come to you when least expected!

Ok, going to buy some flowers, then I'll know what to do!!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

That's the way to do it with gusto and the idea will arrive just as I predicted!

Now if that doesn't just beat all!!!!!! You are truly "cookin on the front burner" !!! Never have I in my life seen such creativity as you possess. That is truly spectacular. You sure make my themes come alive and this one especially.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I tell ya I can't take my eyes off this, I am just sitting here chuckling to myself at your creation! It really blows my mind and the flowers and the way you have the flames coming through the rack and the smoke and what appears to be kindling, it is just superb!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I am blown away, BY EVERYONE!!

Sue, brilliant with the croton leaves! I have a small potted plant and love the colors it displays.

Candee, you have outdone yourself. That is fantastic and I love those little lights. I have picked them up and set them down tons of times at Michaels. Now I have to get them next time. I think this is your best to date. I love your themes as well. They are so open to interpretation.

Such as Karma's....outside the box, girlfriend and picture perfect!! You do have a way with roses!!

Terri, when do we eat?? The 'fire' is amazing. One of these days I am going to convince you to sell your "flower art" as pictures on notepaper, postcards, or wall hangings. I would own the entire collection.

I'll try to get to this one too!

Coffs Harbour, Australia

Excellent Terri, i love it! I would never have thought of making a BBQ. I did think of filling my fireplace, but that was just too big! Your idea is awesome. What are the little red berries?
How different we all are!
I want to go back and look at the inside out Tulips, but will lose this post if i do.
Well done, and hurry up Pupil, we need to see more, More, MORE!
Keep up with your themes Candee, it looks as though everyone is really enjoying them selves.

Terri, that is really imaginative. You successfully showcased all the elements of fire using your flowers. Excellent. . .again and again. Awesome job!

Candee, thanks for "rekindling" my love for flower arranging. Like Traci, I love your themes. I like seeing all the differences in the way we design.

Traci, happy to have you back with us. Always a pleasure to read your posts and thanks for your comments. Looking forward to yours. . .it should be really easy for you as you are the passionate one.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Well stated. I think all of our fires have been ignited by this theme. They are all so unique in design. Thank you for your compliments and glad you are enjoying the themes. I do have other ideas as well.
Traci we are a patient group, just "enlighten" us at your leisure! That way we have something to look forward to, meantime I will visit this thread often as a reminder of how ingenious all of us have become.

london England, United Kingdom

I'm too shy to come back in here!!! You are all so lovely with your compliments, Thankyou so much.
Sue, the berries are Hypericum. I was surprised today to see the flowers still looking good after 3 days, especially the inside out tulips and the rough treatment they had!
Looking forward to yours Traci and any more that might be added!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

If possible that looks even more vibrant today! I can't believe those tulips are hangin tough, but they sure are.
Looking forward to seeing more and more, bring them on!

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Oh my gosh Terri, that is GORGEOUS. This was hiding under the grill the whole time? I say take that grill off and keep it off. GORGEOUS!
