If anyone lives near Spring/Tomball and wants to do a good deed...for a very deserving person.
I am going to work on my sister's yard next Saturday the 29th. She just has a small yard, but she is disabled and her DH works long hours so she needs help with her yard. I could use a few helpers with shovels and energy.
They moved into the house from an apartment and the yard really could use some attention.
Most of her money goes for co-pays at the pharmacy and Dr.offices. Her car isn't even running and she just can't afford to get another one, so she has to plan appointments to the Dr. when DH is home or a friend can take her. I mention that because she is in no position to afford to pay for someone to do her yard and that is why I want to surprise her.
So I am hoping perhaps some great DG people near her might have some extra time or plants or both to share.
Anyone who would like to help can D-Mail me for the address. We will start around 9:00 in the morning. We'll break for lunch and I'll order pizza. If there are some helpers, it shouldn't take very long.
If you can't help and would like to offer plants, soil, or pinebark that would be wonderful.
My sister has had way too many things going on with her health to list, but the biggest thing is she had a masectomy, including the chemo, radiation and the whole bit. Now she is being checked further for possibly more problems. She has had surgery on her foot also recently. This causes her to not be able to do as much as she thinks she could otherwise. She has the antibiotic resistant staff that shows itself everytime she turns around. She has nearly died from that alone.
I just want to do something nice for her. Nancy is her name.
Nancy is such a good and giving person. She has always done so much for other people and still does. She helps a friend deliver meals on wheels twice weekly and volunteers at her church. She has been active for several years in volunteering for the Optimist club's senior citizen and disabled program.
She really has a heart for other people. I just think it is her turn to have someone volunteer to help her.
Nancy has some shrubs she is wanting removed, so anyone wanting those can have them. I think they are Hawthorns , I'm not sure, but they are under her window and she wants them out of there.
Her yard doesn't have much shade so plants that can take the sun are the best. I am bringing her a couple of trees for the back yard and she has a small one in the front. I am bringing her two brugs. She loves colorful things and things that don't need much care (yes, I know the brugs are demanding). I sent photos of my brugs and she really wants to give them a try.
I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this and will gladly answer any questions.

Spring/Tomball Need Help Doing Volunteer Landscaping
So far, one person has said they are coming by and bringing pink crinum lilies.
These will go great in the pink flower bed. I want to make a pink bed for breast cancer awareness, since that has affected Nancy directly.
Come on DG'ers, there is bound to be someone close to Nance with extra plants.
Her zipcode is: 77375 if that is any help.

Charlene, I will be glad to send some things your way for Nancy's house. But Spring is a long way for me, so I'll have to get them to you in CS on April 12.
I don't think I have anything pink. Maybe a yarrow if you have full sun?
Thank you for your help. Yarrow would be great. I'll plan it into the landscape and take it to sis after the RU. I appreciate your help.
Charlene
Okay, adding a Cerise Queen yarrow to my list to bring. If I find anything else that's pink, I'll bring that too.
Charlene - Please look at my list over on the CSRU trades thread. If there is anything she would like, I will be happy to provide it. As you know, I have company for this week and can't help with any of the work, but plants I can do....
