First Brug blooms of 2008...

St. Paul, MN(Zone 4b)

Hello All.

It's 31F outside now and we have a foot of new snow on the ground. My large Brugs are little more than sticks with a few green leaves in my basement, slumbering away. I went down there earlier today to give them all their weekly cup of water and was startled to find Sunray blooming! No fertilizer since last October, virtually no light all winter...amazing.

Happy Easter!

How often should I fertilize mine? How long did it take for yours to bloom ErickMN?

Thank you all for the kind comments.

weedsfree, I don't fertilize my Brugs during the winter, as I really don't want them to grow - just stay alive! However, during the growing season outdoors in the summer, I fertillize them heavily, as much as 2-3 per week. I've had both seed-started and cutting-started Brugs bloom during the first season for me, but (in my experience anyway) they tend to flower much more heavily, and earlier in the season, the second year.

Well thanks a bunch for the info. Do you fertilize with .....what ratio? 10-10-10? What organic fertilzer do you recommend if you use that?
