Don't think that form gets this large... these are the biggest Agave potatorums I have seen

You are very experienced Gardener.
I am sure that it is not real A.potatorum.The leaves and margenal spines and formation of rosset are same like A.potatorum,and A.potatorum not reaches in this size,because it produce flowering stalk in age of 5 to 6 years,it happend with me with my many Agave.potatorum.
I have seen the A.potatorum in many collectors and those are same like this one.

I have also 4 defferent formationed A.potatorum,which i have posted last day in C&S Forum for identification.

Agave potatorum is one of the most variable Agaves there are... though Agave parryi may be even more variable.. hard to say what is one and what isn't. This botanical garden is pretty trustworthy, though, and I will probably go along with their ID until proven beyond a doubt... perhaps when it flowers we will have a better idea.
