It's so hard to choose a favorite as I like them all but if I was forced to pick just one it would have to be H. lambii. The leaves are awesome and the flowers even more so. If I don't get but one hoya to bloom this year I hope it;s this one!
favorite hoya
Yup David, me too. I love Hoya lambii, but I am such a cheater, I have to say I really love my aff. latifolia 1410, my lyii, and last, but not least, my lamingtoniae.
Sort of like lays potato chips...can't eat just one!!

Aha...Sara...where did you get your H. lyii? I have been looking for one!
FINALLY my H. lambii decided it was going to stick around: it put down roots, and a huge umbel of flowers (they don't last long) on a 2' vines coming out of 2 leaves. No plant to speak of!!!!
Your H. lambii is gorgeous, dm...how old is it??
Carol
Still just a baby!! I got it not quite 2 years ago on one of the D.L. orders. It's recently put on almost 3ft of new growth and the bald vines are now producing their leaves.
Carol, my lyii was a gift from a super generous hoya friend!! It has been busy putting on root growth I think, as it has only put out 2 sets of new leaves, and each set lost one leaf!! Sniff...
Still, to see little square leaves, the size of a pencil tip is really cute. =)

Sara, you love the "L" hoyas, huh? :)
My lambii that I got in last year's Fall DL order has put on a whole bunch of leaves, but no flowers yet. David, your's is just gorgeous.
I have so many favorites for so many different reasons!
I got H. lyi (supposedly, but I think it's H. sp. square) from Asiatica. It has such cute square-ish leaves that are rock hard. Here's a pic:
Happy Easter Gabi -
Yes, I guess I didn't realise it before, but yes "L" hoyas it is. Lambii, lamingtoniae, latifolia, lacunosa "giant" (don't really care for the others), lyii, litoralis, hmmmmmm.
Have lunch clean - up waiting for me upstairs...big mess too. Somehow mashed potatoes makes everything seem yuckier when it is time to wash dishes. Pretty mellow Easter this year. The kids got a Wii system, so the agreement was no Easter baskets, no egg dying, etc. Of course now that they missed it all, they are trying to re-negotiate. Ha! no way. This was a really lazy Sunday!
I noticed that about the first pic, David. Thanks for re-posting. That's huge!
Happy Easter to you too Sara..and everyone else!
Funny that you got them a Wii instead of Easter baskets and eggs - good idea. They'll love it. I got it for Sam for Xmas (she's actually playing it as I type), and she loves it. You can buy those old school Nintendo games by downloading them from the Wii system - it's a great system!
So here's a picture of my H. calycina on one of my new trellises. Someone sent me a bunch of these (she made them from those fence things), and I just love them. I can't wait for this calycina to start filling it up more!
Nice calycina plant. I wish I could get mine to grow,it's #3 in the wont grow hoya category!!!!
Here's another of my favorites. H. linearis. It took me about 3 good solid years of trying to track this one down but finally last year after months of me worrying the people at Herman Ingleman gh's to death about it,they finally sold me 2 plants just to get me off their backs!!!!
Kewl beans, Gabi!!!! I have used those fence things, but I like the way yours is bent and shaped! Back to the drawing board.
I have a HUGE H. fraterna on one....it is an actively growing and big hoya and it really likes that trellis!
Thanks David. I just love the look of that huge linearis - mine has a LONG way to go before it gets to that stage!
That's amazing, Carol. What are the "rules" when in the forest when it comes to taking hoya cuttings? Or are there none?
As for the trellis, I can't take credit for making it. But I agree...it's great.
Has anyone that grows H. lambii found that new leaves grow in kind of "wrinkly"?? I wish I was at home to take a picture of what I'm talking about. The leaves that were on there when I got the cutting were flat and round, whereas the new ones are kind of bumpy and wrinkly in between the veining, and they don't flatten out all the way. I hope I'm making sense. I'll post a picture later on.
Gabi
Beautiful bird you have there. I didn't know they could be tamed. But I guess if you're kind to them, and feed them, they will come to you. Your guy is special because you're his 'Mom'. ;)
