James,

It is so weird. I was watering out front and something caught my eye in the leaves around the plant I was watering. It was fluttering around. I immediately stopped watering and took a look and there was the most beautiful moth I had ever seen. I let it crawl on my finger and it crawled onto my hand. Its hind end was a little wet so it stayed no my hand awhile. When it started flapping its wings I knew it was some kind of hummingbird moth which was a thrill as I had never actually seen one. He had the cutest little eyes and the pink patch on the back. I don't think I have been so happy in a long time. He finally got dried off and took off about 100 mph. I don't know what he was doing where he was as there were no flowers or anything growing there. He looked just like yours so I thought I would share my story with ya.

This picture was taken by my brother in law at their garden last year. Check out the tongue-thingy.

This one is the Pink Spotted Hawk Moth

Good Idea, I'll have my BIL post it.

He also had this one fun to see the length on the tongue thingy. I'm not sure if that is technically a proboscis or not.
