Where to post, where to post? I decided on this Forum. It's my first post here and I'm a new member at DG. I love fragrant flowers and plants with fragrant leaves etc. I have many, but still need lots more!
Just wanted to share a couple of photos with other gardeners who appreciate fragrance. First are coffee flowers. The plant is a volunteer and is growing through the fence under my Cypress hedge. The second photo is a Jan Bos Hyacinth that I brought back from Canada in early December. I'm crazy about Hyacinths and forced 3 here in separate pots so I can stagger them and get the most mileage possible from them. The forcing experiment worked, so next year I plan to get lots more, and in all the colours I can find, lol!
I just thought to ask. If anyone is interested in a possible trade, let me know. I have a few things in my Tradelist here.

Well, they're both fragrant lol!
AWESOME!! I would love to see more pictures from your garden.
Beautiful hyacinth. How did you force it? That's one area of gardening I haven't tride yet- forcing cold climate bulbs since I live in the tropics!
It's actually very easy f4f. You're in the same boat as me as far as growing those gorgeous Spring bulbs. The only way is to force them, then compost them afterwards. I'm sure there's instructions here somewhere, but I don't have time to look at the moment. I just pot them up and stick them in the fridge for I think a minimum of 12 or 14 weeks. You keep them watered and in the dark, while they root out into the pot. Inspect them regularly for signs of rotting etc. and they can't be anywhere near fruit like apples. Then you bring them out, but it's best to start off in a cool-ish place first, rather than right out into too much light and heat or they will bolt. All that time and effort "down the toilet" so to speak! The Hyacinths I mostly grow for that intoxicating scent, but the flowers are pretty too. Of course a lot of people can't stand the smell. I think you either love it or hate it!
Intriguing. Thanks!
I absolutely love the frgrance of hyacinths as well. Luckily, I don't have to force them where I live in zone 5. Just keep them dry in the summer and they come back again and again. I have a couple dozen that are over 10 years old now. Can't beat that fragrance in spring- but I have to wait another month for it..... Here's a pic from last spring.
Those are really pretty fragrance1st. I like the different colours and how they are spreading/multiplying!
