No matter which species, I'm very much looking for seeds from palm trees.
If you have some and want to share, please send me d-mail!
Thanks!
PS
Also still looking for Abutilon seeds!
Looking for palm seeds
Hey Tuinkabouter! Your abutilon seeds are on the way. I also have Areca Palm and Pygmy Date Palm seeds. Let me know!
vm
Vanillaman, you make my day (again)!
Please send me d-mail to let me know what you want in return!
Thanks!
Tuink, I just added some Thrinax radiata. I also don't think in our first trade you requested all the zamias I have. I also added Sabal palmetto if you are interested. I will have Arikury palm in a couple of months, also soon will have Ptychosperma elegans. And, in a few months I will have Allegoptera- an endangered species that I have decided that I should trade some of those seeds for that reason. I will also soon have Chamaedorea seifrizii and later this year Chamaedorea metallica.
I still haven't even processed or planted the seeds I received from our first trade!!! Probably next weekend I will start planting some things!!!!
Wow fauna4flora, you have a lot of interesting palms there! I saw them actually in your photos on that Thread you linked me to, thanks. I'd love some of those seeds. Maybe we can do another trade when you have those seeds. It's too bad there weren't more than 24 hrs. in a day!
LOL- tell me about it! I will defiitely let you know when they are ready V-man. Find me something special to trade! I am planting your seeds today, BTW!!!!!!
Great Jazz! I hope they go wild for you. Your place looks like a Botanical Garden "in the making" by the way. I saw a perfect spot where I could pitch a tent, lol! I've always wanted to grow Palmettos here, so those are seeds I'd like. Are they big seeds? I have some Palm seeds I brought back from Panama a while back, and they look just like Avocado pits! I soaked them for ages before planting them. Sure hope I get at least one to sprout. I'm sure they were a type of "Fan Palm", maybe Bismarck, but I can't remember and didn't make a note.
Good Luck with those seeds!
tuinkabouter: Don't worry about a trade. I think this evens us out a little! I'll look out for more Palm seeds as well. Those are the only 2 I've "snatched" and they're relatively small, which is good for mailing.
Thankfully, V-man, the palmetto are small for once. I look at trader who've spent 31 cents for postage, and I'm like........man, I'm not trading Bismarkia anymore!!!! Just kidding- its not about money, really! I have to send you pictures of the potting benches I've got now- crazy full of seedlings I've got working, and I love not having to bend over any more. Its funny that you've said our place is a botanical garden in the making.....exactly my goal! Anyway, D-mail me and we'll set up another trade for the palmetto.
Ok f4f, but I can wait til your other palm seeds are ripe.
Yep. Those seeds keep well for a while.
Thanks for the offer, Vanillaman! You still know the address?
Jazz, you made this little gnome very, very happy! Please send me what you have already and d-mail me to tell what you would like to have in return! Pick as many as you like! And when the other seeds are ripe, we'll simply do this again!
I'm really glad that I got to know both of you here at Dave's!
Ditto to tuinkabouter and to fauna4flora!
Awwe, you guys are what make all the time I clean seeds worth it! I will Dmail you Tuink. Talk soon!
Are we supposed to clean our seeds?
Yes. Some seeds don't predelect that. Some do. Some countries have regulations against shipping chaff, not seed. So, yes, depending on the seed. For me it can be a lot of fleshy seed coats that get botrytis if you don't clean all that fruit off. Sometimes I even bleach the outer seed coats which are to peeled or detoriated naturally anyway. You should see my seed organization area- I need my own room in the house to keep track of everything!!!!!
Yeah, or a laboratory! I was just kidding by the way. My seeds are always squeaky clean when they leave here. At the moment I'm sitting in front of a pile dried pods, husks, shells, capsules, and chaff. Over on the other side of the table are a some small cup things that I use, with a few cleaned seeds, ready to go! It's amazing how few seeds you get sometimes out of all that crap! And of course didn't I come home this afternoon with another pile of fresh seeds to be cleaned! At least when we trade our seeds, we know the other person had to do the same thing, so I guess it's worth it, lol!
Oh, the two of you make me feel so sloppy! Bleaching your seeds, imagine....
DH always complains about chaff blowing around in the house. Be careful with cleaning though! I ended up in the ER with an eye full of thorny stuff!
there's not much to harvest now, so I can spend my time packing all those seeds!

Palmetto seeds? Ooops I could have sent you like 10,000 of them a month or two ago. I just never bother to grab them. The only ones I have are Sago palm (Cycas revoluta) seeds at the moment. Big seeds BTW.
No one ever seems interested in the palm seeds so I don't collect them. On my street we have at least 10 varities of palms. Date, palmetto, sago, windmill etc.
CoreHHI,
Sago palm will be fine, if you want to get rid of them! Please send me d-mail to start this trade!
And next time the palms bear fruits (no idea when that will be!), please keep me in mind!
Thanks so much!
I have Mexican fan palm seeds if you need them. Let me know.
Lavina
