Alright everyone, here's the place to post what you are bringing as a dish to the Newcastle Trade.
My address is 11645 SE 88th St. Newcastle, WA 98056
Directions:
Off I-405, take exit 7, head up the hill (not toward the lake)
stay on that road until you reach the top of the hill
You'll reach a stop sign and my house is on the right about the 5th house. I have a picket cedar fence.
Potluck list for Newcastle Plant swap
Thanks J...
What culinary categories are we considering - entre's, sides, desserts, salads...?
I'll bring a Chinese Chicken Salad and my beverage of choice.
I will bring a "whole lotta nothing" and a salad of "natta cheeze with natta lettuce". I am sorry for not being able to come. I am being flown directly from Kalispell to AK so no time to drive over early and trade. I will miss you. Steve
I think I'll will be bringing the same, I can't go. Start my Vac. on the 27th.
Work Work comes first. SSSSo SSSSorry. I wanted to go so bad.
Tills
We'll miss you Sofer and TIlly! There'll be others this summer and I'll hope to see you then.
Katye,
Every type of food group is open. This list will help others decide based on what is already listed.
Hmmm...Cornbread & a salad, Greek, perhaps.
How about a nice pepperoni lasagna? I can whip up a nice burnaise sauce if you are grilling, and some asparagus with holandaise? I can do that.
Gordon, we'll probably need to check that out PRIOR to the potluck. So, when's dinner ready? =:0)
I haven't done anything fancy since I was the chef at Harbor Pointe!! Just want to do something nice and test my culinary skills out.
Some day I will have to tell you my best cooking story- lunch for Pres. Clinton.
NWGordon, you are my new best friend. I adore hollandaise and have dreams of being a chef at least maybe of my own b&b. I'd love to hear your story. :)
Started cooking in 1981 in the Army, and got my cullenary degree at CIA i Denver. Been at the Pancake Corral for the last 12 years. If I had to pick a favorite sauce it would have to be tarragon sauce, whaich is a very heavy , cream sauce. If I had enough time I could do duphenia potatoes, fancy french scalloped poatoes.Just takes forever to layer the thing together. Hope you don't mind getting burned and cut all the time!! :-)
Gordon,
When is the eating party at your house?! We could do some planting as well :0)
yes, we could plant our butts at his dining room table...
LOL, But I hope we dont sprout, and grow roots. He may have to keep us.
Aahhhh! We could end up in one of his sauce creations!!!!!
Gordon,
I spend my free time in the summer and fall canning fruit. I can attest that applebutter is like napalm after a couple of hours on the stove... :) That's my other hobby after gardening. I send the results to family for christmas. The boxes are usually around 18 lbs a piece, filled with jams, apple butter, pickles, beets, pears, peaches, etc.
LOL better be careful he might give us to her and she will can us. then send us to someone.
J- I enjoy canning as well, all the stuff from the garden and fruit trees oh, and peaches from eastern WA, yum!
I think I've forgotten to set a start time for the trade. I'm not particular but my neighbors might be. Plan for 10am till whenever you want to go home. :)
I may love a plant trade, but I'd be hard put to get there so early that your neighbors wouldn't like it. I'm only a morning-person wannabe!! 10 a.m. it is.
10 am and eat at noon? Need to plan some sort of hot holding area and cold so we don't get food poisining!!
Your so good Gordon! Thanks for looking out for our tummies :0)
hmmm. when Is this potluck... I'm suddenly hungry :o) maybe I shoudl plan my trip to WA around gordons gourmet meal?! :o)
Great idea Anjl! Let us know when you do come up it would be great to meet you! I would be happy to host a DG lunch at my house! Rachel
((hugs)) rachie... I will let you all know when I have a specific date.... I will also be all over from Olympia to Port Orchard, so hopefully can stop in and meet DGers all along the way.... oh and also steal ideas from your gardens! LOL!
anjl
Wonderful, look out we will send you away with plants :0)!
I don't think anyone mentioned anything about waiting to eat... LOL
If you are bringing a dish that should be hot, it would be great if you bring it in a crock pot or something that can be plugged in. If the weather is nice, I'll pull power outside. If it isn't, I can just plug it in the kitchen.
As for the cold items, if you are bringing a pasta salad or something similar, you might consider nesting the bowl in a larger bowl filled with ice to keep it cold. I have some room in my frig, but not enough for 30 dishes...
If you have other tips Gordon, let us know!
I have some ice coolers I can bring for the cold items. I asume it is byo drinks? Let me know if you wanted to do steaks I can get then thru the restaraunt for a good price. Just say how many and we can square up the day of. I guess this is all weather depending.
There's usually plenty of food brought in so grilling steaks won't be necessary. I believe someone on the other garden site has said they'll bring drinks. Though if you have something in particular you'd like go for it.
I will bring some kind of salad (haven't narrowed it down yet.) I will have it on ice already since it's a long drive. Looking forward to it! Rachel
bumping this thread for anyone interested in the plant swap this saturday at my house. Hope for good weather!
Nothing but sunshine and great trades!!
