Hi ...I think it may be white fly.Although sometimes a slug can hide in the pot and slither up at night ...they sort of graze.
It hopefully won't kill the plant ...good luck with it ...I think someone else may come along to give their opinion ...I am in Australia so I am not familiar with over wintering.

Thanks Chrissy. I had forgotten about white fly which is a problem usually in the summer here. I never see slugs here fortunately. Is the plant wilting just as a reaction to the insect damage? The temps are only in the 80's now and it is well watered.

Probably in shock from going from covered to outside ...give it a sheltered position ...morning sun and afternoon shade ...make sure it is in a well drained medium and it needs plenty of water ...I would give it a seasol (seaweed tonic) shower until it perks up ...this toughens the plant cells up and improves the general health of the plant, it is not a fertilizer.
Good luck :) I am sure it will be ok.
