Thought this was interesting....it is an umbel of flowers on H. sp. CMF-8 - or formerly called H. cagayanensis....
So...what color?
Gorgeous combo of orange and pink, lovely leaves, too! How's the odeur?
Nice colour combination and "four"!
My plant is finally growing so perhaps some day.........
It's a "beautiful" color:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
I don't notice a fragrance...I must try going out there at night. The 'charm', I have been told, of this hoya is the growth and leaves...GREAT leaves!!!! And it is an eager bloomer.
Christina...what is the 'four'?????
I think she means the four corolla lobes on one of the flowers.
Gabi
Thanks, Gabi...I think you are RIGHT!!!!
That's really pretty Carol!!! I have a confession to make - I was on Hawaii last week! We were only on the Big Island for 2 days, so I didn't call to bother you, because I was unsure of our schedule. We then spent 6 days on Maui. Maui is absolutely gorgeous, but, honestly, if I had my choice, I'd live on the Hilo (your) side of the big Island!!!! Went to the Hawaiian Botanical Garden - oh my gosh, I've been giving myself a headache trying to figure out how to turn my sunroom into the tropics! Anyway, I got a little off topic - your bloom is beautiful!!
Karen
Oh, GOODness...I suppose (being Easter weekend and all) I shall have to forgive you...sigh... Actually, just as well as I came back from the mainland with a killer sorethroat, awful cough, couldn't even talk without squeeking.... Better now.
But PROMISE me, you WILL call next time and at least come for a walk around. A call from a friend is NEVER a 'bother' !!!! Did you go to the Botanical Garden down by the water....up in Onomea? The director is a really neat fellow name of Sean and we trade plants a lot...I give him hoyas/dischidia for his trees and he gives me tons of neat stuff.
Wow Sistah K, I just keep missing you when you travel! We're going back to Hawaii in May and will be staying on Maui, but we plan a couple of day trips to some of the other islands. Hawaii is a plant addicts dream!!
Blessings,
Awanda
Awanda...transportation around the islands is a bear... Look into Island Air for flights between Maui and other islands.
Carol
Carol- Whatever color you call it, just call it BEAUTIFUL! Love it! Can't imagine the 'charm ' just being the leaves even though they are very pretty too. Love colored veination like that.
Thanks Carol, we had planed on flying:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
It is the only way to go, Awanda. The ferry is still in repairs....IF it runs at all. We are basically hostages on our own islands. No interstate here!!!!!
Awanda - it does seem like we're following each other around! Maui is beautiful - loved every minute of it - BUT, REALLY loved the Big Island, most especially the "wet" side! I saw brugmansias and plumerias over a story high!! Holy moly! Just a gorgeous paradise!! There was one plant I'd love to know what it was....Carol, maybe you could help?? Unfortunately, I didnt' get a picture, but it looks like a GIANT cactus/aloe/agave - only variegated....probably a poor description - but many people had it in their landscaping there.....Anyway, Awanda, have a great time when you go back....I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to return!!!
There are lots of variegated aloes and agaves here....where did you see it....can you remember?
I saw it the most along the southern part of the island (I think - Route 11?) - after we left Hilo. They were incredible - would probably NEVER make it here in Illinois, but they were to die for!! You live in the most incredible place I've ever been - sigh.....
Edited to say - this is an OT, but here's just one of the beautiful orchids we saw at the Botanical Garden!
