Good Day

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

We had a very good day yesterday at the barn. The weather was nice and we got the work done early. A friend came by and DH rode with him to the hardware store so I had some down time and was able to get a bit of organizing and cleaning done. Then I decided I'd ride Goldy. She is the only one I can ride bare back and without DH there to tighten my cinch she was my only choice. LOL I miss the days when I was strong enough to tighten my own saddle. I have good days when I can still manage it but not lately. I like riding Goldy and it keeps her in good shape for Knock. She was feeling cheeky yesterday with the wind blowing and she bucked a few times. I crossed a ditch with her and she didn't hesitate. When she landed on the way back she gave me another buck.

When the guys got back we all saddled up ( our friend lives up the hollow from our barn ) and we went on a short trail ride. DH rode Godiva and she was ready to go! I rode Coffee and it was her first trail ride. She hesitated a bit at a few things but all in all she did great. She got exposed to lots of things in a short time. Dogs, chickens, a pig, yard statues, kids playing, a chain saw and even loose horses milling around. We went up the mountain a ways and I was really pleased with her.

It was a good day at the barn!
