The weather here is to nasty to get out with the camera, so I'm opening this with a photo from over a year ago. It's probably back on page 5 or so, but it's worth a repost.

Another new bird for me today. Yellow bellied sapsucker! It stayed on this same tree most of today making holes I guess.

Like f_chisholm, I hadn't seen any goldfinches for days. Then today a few were at the feeder fighting off the purple finches.

I had just told you it was too nasty to get out with the camera. It was between squalls when I looked out the kitchen window. I was squinting these old eyes trying to make out what I was seeing. Any guesses before I post a full pic?

It's just peeking out over the edge of the feeder at me.

Gosh, I wish some of these were sharper, but it is a yucky day out there. I guess I should just be glad that I saw the bird and got any pix at all.

Last year I had that one with the white collar, now this one. It is nice seeing unusual birds.

While I was at the park yesterday, I saw this grackle pick up something from the ground and then fly to a nearby tree branch. I couldn't really tell what it had until I got home and looked at the photos I took. The park is located next to a junior high school and has had problems with kids selling drugs there in the past. I sure hope this grackle found a piece of candy (like a sweettart) and not something that can harm it.
