I know nothing about tulips.
I planted lots 3 years ago, negritas, double parrots, and some other mixes. They bloomed well the first year, and of course, they haven't bloomed since then. So if I dug them up and gave them to someone in a more northern zone...would they ever bloom again?
I want to get rid of them but I don't want to throw them away if they'll bloom for someone else
Tulips that don't rebloom
I think Negrita is a Triumph tulip, and those typically don't rebloom well. Some parrots have rebloomed for a couple of years for me, but that's been it. Sadly, I'd just toss them.
My Negritas don't seem to be reblooming well, either...FYI. Do your's get enough sun?
I pull tulips after their first bloom, they just don't do well after that in the following years. I toss them down in the backyard near a tree line and after a few years they will bloom again finally. For the best show replant new each year.
I have great luck with Darwin Hybrids returning, especially if they're in a spot thats dry in summer. The species are good for reblooming too, and some even increase. I've gotten 2 good years out of Single Late varieties, and am curious what they'll do this year.
