So, tell me about growing Edgeworthia in the PNW. I saw one in the Center for Urban Horticulture's garden on the east side of the building. I thought that for a plant with only stems the fattened, papery stems had to be the sexiest shrub I have seen yet.
I have perused the web, and DG for information, and even found it in "Plant this" and it seems like a winner. What are your experiences, where can I get a good one? Or does some one have one who thinks its the ugliest thing they have ever seen?
Edgeworthia in PNW
I have one in my garden and for sale at the nursery. I think they are nice and have a wonderful daphne fragrance. They need part shade and a protected site. Some of mine get a little frost nipped in a bad winter. They are odd looking but I like them. Sometime the slugs like it. I have a few but I usually order a few big ones. Heidi
I have one, too. Edgeworthia chrysantha. It's right outside the front door and has been in bud for 2 months. Still isn't blooming! But to be fair, it receives no direct sunlight at all. I am considering underplanting it with a short, shade loving sedge, hopefully with yellow in it. Yes, the slugs seem to adore this plant. They climb up very high for the leaves.
