Anacua Tree

My Anacua seems to have suckers near it. I'm just wondering, has anyone dug these up and would they survive?

These two links indicate that Anaquas can be propagated by using the suckers.

My book Landscaping with Native Plants of Texas by George Oxford Miller, lists root suckers as a method of propagation. I have not tried this myself, but I was planning on it. In my book How to Grow Native Plants of Texas and the Southwest by Jill Nokes it says the same, but it puts a few addendums. "Anacua roots easily from juvenile wood or suckers...However, vegetative production of Anacua often results in weak-rooted, irregular shaped shrubs that do not form strong trees." But then she goes on to say that "We transplanted an "L" shaped sucker with a single slender stem 12 inches long and a root 6 inches long 9 years ago to our yard and we now enjoy a robust tree with a dense, rounded crown 17 feet tall."

I hope that answers your question.

Well, I've got two suckers in the 2 or more feet tall size. I don't want the tree to make a thicker, so if they might produce more trees, maybe I'll try to dig them up.
