#1
I knew what this was when I planted it. It has gotten so large, everyone want to know what it is. something I bought for 50cents:)
NOIDS ... PLEASE HELP!
1 - no idea
2 - yep Golden rod
3 - maybe ...
I think the first one is a Hollyhock.
Pam
might be...
#1 looks like my hollyhock leaves.
Mine have more a ruffled look to them here...
1. hollyhocks
2. looks like my tall native asters
3. looks a bit like coreopsis leaves
I vote for hollyhocks on #1 too.
I'll jump on the hollyhocks bandwagon!
#2 ~ no IDea
#3 ~ I'm going out on a limb... almost looks like a Ruellia, perhaps one of the taller ones.
Tossing out ideas for #2...
1- I have a weed that looks like that when it first comes out. As it gets taller the stem gets twisty.
2- Same form/shape as baby daisies? Mine are about that size.
3- baby ruellias coming up?
1. Hollyhock
2. don't know
3. Has a look of Evening Primrose about it.
Carla
Sylvia That look just like the Texas Goldenrod that I gave you, Josephine might have given you some too... great plant and it will spread like that. When you look at the leaves they have that zig zag edge. Great garden plant.
Mitch, your hollyhock is zebrina and it is really different from the others. I have both and the old fashioned HH will get 5-6 feet tall. One my most favorite flowers in the garden. I vote #1 Hollyhock. the other NOID.
Christi
Christi - I had both, the zebrina in ft. and the old fashioned - the niagra and a noid pink just my leaves dont like tht first pic - maybe due to the fact they came from up North?
That must be it. Yankee hollyhocks!
ohhohohhohhahahhalol.
C
lol :-) They are still stunning in the garden. In fact Christi I dug up one or two and sent them with you last visit .
I know. They were all planted. If this rain keeps up they will be ruined as mine were last year. Not one of the plants that thrives in a flood.
C
Same here - the whole back yard is flooded... the gate was swept down the street and the main street to get into my place is closed due to high water, had to make it home with the back roads.
Oh goodness, Mitch. Have been watching TV and you are close to the worst flooding in all Dallas metroplex. I pray your home is not flooded. If it gets any higher in my front, it will come under the walls. Don't want a duplicate of 2007.
hubby has been watching and trying to rework an earthen dam built behind a pond he dug that has a small creek running into it....he has a large 18in wide overflow pipe in the middle , but it isn't keeping up with the water coming in, nothing in danger except for the expense and trouble to rebuild.
...he is using a water pump and digging trenches for water diversion to try to save the dam........we lost it last spring in the floods and he rebuilt it this summer at some expense.........after dark here now and he has gone back out in the rains to refuel the water pump.
his hinney will probably come draggin in way after he does, he's been at it all day
The water won't get too deep where he is working I hope. Crossing my fingers for you.

It started getting in the house before bed, about 1 foot in by the back door but that was all - a lot of water and the back yard really looks like a lake but all came out well.
