I have a bird house on the front porch with a nest in it and a hanging plant with a nest in it. I've started arrangements to have the house painted. What should I do about the nests? Paint around them? Can I hang the hanging plant somewhere else without disaster for the babies? I'm pretty sure the painters are going to power wash. That can't be good for the bird house, but it's screwed to the wall, so I can't move it. Any ideas?
what should I do about nests when I have my house painted?
Hi Elphaba, I would move the hanging planter to a location thats safe thats as close to the original spot as possible.
I have no idea about the other one, maybe Resin can think of something.
Are there eggs in either one of these nests??
If there ISN"T any eggs in the one screwed to the house then I would block the entrance hole immediately.
I thought the one on the house was a new nest, so I opened it to check for eggs. The nest was still in the early stages, so I took it down! One problem solved. I feel bad for the nester, but you were right, better now than later.
I've heard the babies in the other nest, but it's in the hanging basket, so hopefully I can move it.
There's a third nest in a bromiliad hanging on the side of the house. I saw the Carolina wrens make it, but I think they abandoned it. I can't see in it. I guess I'll take it down and then check and hope for the best.
Thanks for the help! Here's a pic of the newby nest that I removed!
