I'm like a kid, I can't wait

Well PNWers'
I see all these plants growing like it was already spring. I don't see any freezing and I planted some, starting to bloom hyacinth, which bloomed fully, beautifully. So any reason why I can't start planting now? I have rununculus, a minirose, steppables groundcover, liatris, and a bunch of seeds. Can I, Please?

Vicky, I think you can now, I have been moving plants out of the GH for the last week and they are going find, Seeds is a different story, But if you go ahead and plant them, save some milk jugs cut off the bottom to make caps to put over the seeds if it gets to cold at night, have done this it works. even if you lay clear plastic over them. just to protect from the frost.

I say go for it. I have seedlings outdoors that are coming up. I've put them in a mini-greenhouse in case we have a cold night, but if they are willing to germinate at these temperatures, then I think it's officially spring.

I still have most of mine indoors, but did repot a bunch into 4" pots today. I brought in the nasturtium but left calendula, zinnia, lavender, and snapdragons seedlings outside but wrapped in plastic. We'll see how they make it through the night; if they don't make it I have plenty more seeds where those came from! I'm thinking next weekend or the weekend after the babies will be going into the potager boxes and I will be sowing the remaining seeds! Woo Hoo ~ FINALLY!

Thank you guys!! I just needed to have actual gardeners tell me I am not totally crazy. Words spoken by my daughter who is not a gardener. Ok, outside I go. Wheeeee

Lucky you WA gardeners.I'm not very far north of you,but the last 4 mornings have had heavy frost & this morning wet snow turning to rain. Not spring yet.
alendula is pretty hardy,at least in the fall.I had it blooming long after first frost in October.
I'm just now getting all my calendula, chamomile,Borage seeds into cells. The first of April I'll start the sunflowers so that they'll bloom this summer.

Ned, it was 36 degrees this morning here - no frost, but still a bit chilly. Sounds like you're pretty busy, though, anyway!

I'm definitely chomping at the bit, but (happily?) have so darn much flower bed cleanup to do that I can't think about very much planting anyway (except for some daylilies which I put in pots, and a couple small Hebe Topiaria that I removed from pots and put in the ground. Oh, and planted some poppies that Tills gave to me . . . guess I've been planting more than I thought - lol!).

I've managed to get most of the cleanup done the last couple weeks.A lot of mine is perennials-bee balm, lemon balm, mints,Greek oregano. All I had to do was cut off the dead stems.I used some seaweed mulch on a few beds.Adding steer manure to a couple others.I've got all raised beds,so it's not too messy.
When our hardware store gets his shipment of nursery plants in early May,I'll be busy then,as I didn't start any petunias for my hanging pots.

It's so HARD. . .I started my seeds WAY too early and will probably have to restart a number of them because, well, because I just started them way too early. All of the ones I left out under plastic last night did fine. I uncovered them during the day today and have put them back to bed, but it was kinda chilly here today and a very light frost on the beds this morning. Not quite ready to put them in the ground yet, but getting close! Counting the days ~

I have a few dozen starts and I want to wait maybe one more week. Haven't had a dining room for awhile now, guess I can wait one more week. But I say go for it, but watch the weather reports!
