Hello Fellow Gardeners,
I actually have been posting for about a week now and did not see this forum.
My husband and I live in NC and are empty nesters, Whoooohooooo!
We are both from burbs or cities and this is our first time gardening on the scale that we are. 5 years ago we bought a 1940 farm house here in NC and have 4.5 acres. We mostly grow veggies, but this year I am venturing into flowers big time. Don built me an 8x12 greenhouse last month and I am having a blast using that. Starting most of my veggies and lots of flowers. We have a 1 acre veggie garden but 1/2 of that will be a vineyard next Spring.
We are also getting chickens in a couple months and Don has discovered Antique David Bradley walk behind tractors, we have 2. One that we use in the garden and one Don is restoring.
We have 2 dogs and love being farmers.
Hope to meet lots of you and share our experiences.

Hi Lavina and Diane.
Lavina where is Grantboro?
We are near Greensboro.
Pamlico County round the corner from Oriental and by the Ferry.
Where the mouth of the Neuse empties into the pamlico sound below New Bern.

Hi there, this is my first post on DG and I'm excited to have found such a wealth of knowledge.
This year is my first attempt at growing and gardening, so I need all the help I can get! I have quickly found that growing vegetables is an addiction since what started off as tomatoes and hot peppers has gotten a bit out of control. In addition to the 5 types of tomatoes and 3 types of hot peppers, I have bell & baby belle peppers, spaghetti & butternut squash, little eggplants, oregano, rosemary, 5 types of basil, peas, carrots, onions, and shallots. This weekend, once I've got my big pots all ready, the 4 types of container lettuce go in!
The crazy thing is, I have never been able to keep a plant alive in all of my 29 years. And yet everything I have grown this year is happy and thriving for the most part.
Angel my hubby calls me Plant Killer.
And I have been trying to grow plants for over 40 years.
Lavina
Lol Lavina, my bf calls me the Overwatering Queen as I "overtend" to my poor little plants.
