Spring slideshow

Oakland, CA(Zone 9b)

Went into the garden this morning and took a bunch of new shots. Then I created a slideshow on Photobucket of the best 30 of them. Hope everybody enjoys the show!

...sigh...those are wonderful!! A great tonic for someone itching to get into the yard - thank you!

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

That is really beautiful. I love how you have tons of plants packed into what looks like a relatively small lot! My yard is coming along right behind yours, but I don't think I have that many varieties. Wish my neighbor who comments on how I garden so "differently" (meaning cottage style and not just lined up like soldiers with all boring evergreens) could see it! Thanks for sharing that slideshow. ; )

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Whoah! I loved the flowering rosemary!

Winston-Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

L O V E L Y !!! Gave me some ideas! Love your plant groupings! So pretty!

Your sildeshow also reminded me that I need to get some tubers planted that I forgot about! LOL!

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Thank you so much for sharing spring while we up north are waiting.
What a beautiful garden.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Beautiful - thanks for sharing.

I've got lots of things peeking out. Daylilies are up along with lots of others. The fringe flower is in full bloom and I've got my fingers crossed that we won't get another freeze.

Wow, what a beautiful garden, and what awesome photographs. Are you a professional photographer? That dew-covered bearded iris was such a fantastic photo. It sure looks like you know your way around a garden...and a camera! :)

Oakland, CA(Zone 9b)

kaylyred and everyone, thanks for letting me know people enjoyed the show! The feedback always helps [smile]. I actually got into gardening very late in life after a lifetime of murdering houseplants - I was pleasantly surprised to find that plants in the ground are MUCH easier than plants in pots, LOL.

Also just an amateur photographer - my sister was a professional photojournalist and I got interested in it years ago. My old-model digital camera isn't terribly good compared to what's available nowadays so I'm thinking this year I'm going to upgrade to something snazzier.

I enjoy photographing things that don't move around much. Unlike my sis, I can't seem to capture moving objects - like people - very well! But fasten 'em to the ground, and I'm right there on top of it. She taught me to 'frame' the picture carefully before I snapped the shutter. I guess that's why I'm so bad with anything that moves and okay with stuff that's stationary!

Dear Jkom,

I've also enjoyed looking at your photos over on GW. You are an inspiration to all, especially those like myself who must garden as you do, on a smaller lot.

Please keep the pictures rolling in Jkom and everyone else ... we just just got dumped on in Chicago with a whole lot of snow and we need inspiration more then ever at this moment.

Just had to share that my first iris bloomed yesterday.

And the snapdragons are starting up again too.

And euphorbia.

But the real sign of spring is when the cactus start to bloom. This one is a native that I relocated from the back of the property to my front gate. Lots more buds on it. I love Spring! Happy Easter everyone!

Beautiful photos, cactuspatch! I especially love the snapdragons.

Sure makes me look forward to spring in zone 5!

Thanks! Those snaps are just my favorite colors. ; )

Sugar Land, TX

That is gorgeous! You have such a gift for mixing plants! I'm envious.

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 4b)

Wonderful combinations of color and texture.

jkmom51,Lovely slide show, I just love coming down to your area as you have some things you can do like the tibouchina which isn't hardy here. My sister lives in Berkeley and whenever I come I always come home with a tibo. I have seen such wonderful vines there too like the distictis. She has promised me a trip to Annie's Annuals when I come next.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Jkom, Lovely as always. Did you say you wanted to redo your front? Why? (Or did you already do it?)

C-Patch - Those photos of yours actually remind me of you....the coral color is such a common thread in your garden. Even the yellow Euphorbia has a hint of the coral in it. Tabasco had a link to Renee's Garden seeds and in there is an open face azalea flower snap called Chantilly Mix, and Annie's had the Chantill Peach...they both reminded me of you and I could see them blooming at your house with the peach stucco in the background and the blue sky above....

I am always torn between inspiration and depression when you two post photos :) Nothing like seeing some giant things blooming in your photos that are bitty houseplants here!

Lenjo, A trip to Annie's would be wonderful! I don't know what it is about her catalog & website, but she can make even the commonest flowers seem "to die for". Minimum postage is $27.00. That will get 8 plants here to Indiana.

All in all, with the weather the way it is here (no sun here for a month ,at least), and the lack of anything larger than a crocus blooming outside, I think I am depressed.

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

Iloquin, OMG! I am too transparent! LOL! You are correct. I always say peach is my favorite fruit and favorite color. You could be my personal shopper! ; ) I am sorry to say I can't say what color you would like, but then I do have some memory issues.

McLean, VA(Zone 6b)

JKOM,

Your garden is beautiful. I can't wait until it gets warmer here.
